Rounding out the publicly voted awards: Vance Joy won Best Video for the Annelise Hickey-directed clip for ‘Missing Piece’. The Freo foursome won the publicly voted Song Of The Year for ‘Booster Seat’, aka the #2 Hottest Song of 2020 according to you, from their beloved debut album Sunlight. Spacey Jane proved once again that they’re the people’s favourite. The Sydney-reared trio also beamed in a chilling performance of the track to an enormous crowd from their adopted home of Los Angeles. RÜFÜS DU SOL scored two wins - victorious in both of their nom’d categories, namely Best Dance Release and Best Group behind their comeback single ‘Alive’. Renamed in honour of the late, great Mushroom founder, the award was presented by Ed Sheeran who paid tribute to his old friend Michael Gudinski in a moving video tribute. (Kid’s gonna need a bigger trophy cabinet!) It’s the second award ever in Budjerah’s career, following his Best New Talent win at the 2021 NIMAs.
